Acting like a “wise guy”

Being seen as wise by others is an admirable goal, among the highest of character goals actually.

A wise person does so much more than give sound advice. Becoming wise is actually accomplished by living out a life following Jesus and living in His ways. This is a hard task, perhaps even impossible to do on one’s own. However, by living a surrendered life this is possible regardless of one’s natural intellect or abilities.

James 3:13 says, “If you are wise and understand God’s ways, prove it by living an honorable life, doing good works with the humility that comes from wisdom.”

There’s a reason why typically only “older” people obtain the title of being “wise”. It is gained only through the steady, persistent and consistent life well-lived; a life of self-sacrifice, of loving others well and honoring God all the way through regardless of the circumstances.

As the saying goes, actions speak louder than words. So carry on, and those doing right, God-honoring things and in time you may be seen as one that is wise.
