Mary was a social outsider. Being described as “demon possessed”, she would have lived desolate and alone. When she encountered Jesus, he cast out her demons, beginning her deliverance.
After her deliverance, she became on of Jesus’ closest followers and cared for his needs (Mark 15:40-14 ESV)
She remained with Jesus, his closet followers and family at his crucifixion (John 19:25 ESV)
And she was the first to know that Jesus was resurrected from the dead and told others (John 20:11-18 ESV)
So, was Mary of Magdala a useless woman? Charles Spurgeon writes of Mary, “Grace found her useless and made her useful”
There are no useless people, only people that have not yet been put to use.
What must you surrender to be put to further use to God and his Kingdom?
